WEEK 1-2
The tool I chose to explore and work with is a photocopier because although it performs the simple role of making copies of documents or images, the machine itself can be used in various ways and produce a different outcome depending on the factor that affects when using the machine.

This week the brief asked us to select a project made by someone else that makes effective use of this tool and remake this selected project with as much fidelity as possible so I decided to recreate a page from a book Daphne by Sigmar Polke.
From analysing the movement and distortion from the image, I believe the artist did the experiment on each page separately so I decided to separate it into two images and work on each one separately as well.

And here’s the starting image to begin my experiment

Beginning with the first image, here are all the copies that I printed out and the final outcome

Next is the second image, here are all the copies that I printed out and the final outcome

After doing the experiment, I wrote down some thoughts and questions that came up while recreating the piece

Still, I have not yet accomplished recreating an original image, but by doing this experiment and combining all the layers together proposes a new way of understanding one single image and raises some questions, such as could we compose a movement to expand a single image or even a single dot and used it to tell stories? How many movements can we create within the time limit? And could this tool especially this method of composing movements and layering be used to produce moving images?
